Many people who own cell phones surf the Internet using them. Smartphones are no doubt the best arena to be surfing the web in, but the truth of the matter is that even the simplest cell phone these days likely has Internet capabilities. With this in mind, remember that more and more people are sitting around, stuck in traffic or waiting for their date to show up, tinkering with the Internet on their phone.

If you’re a business with a marketing mindset, then this information is doubtlessly making you wonder how you can best turn this to your advantage insofar as getting your message across to the consumer is concerned. Having a website in general is one of the best ways to get yourself out there to the masses, and business websites are all but considered necessary these days to any business who wishes to get off the ground and advertise to a wide range of potential clients. But what about clients who are surfing on their cell phones?

The truth of the matter is that no matter how good your site looks on the computer or how well organized it is, it’s likely a little awkward for those who are working with mobile browsers. Regular websites are simply not calibrated to handle mobile browsers, and the result is often squished graphics and confusing layouts.

What can assist in this matter is a website that is specifically calibrated for the use of Internet surfers using mobile phones. These specialty websites are often known as “WAP” websites, and generally project a truncated version of the company’s full website. WAP websites are a great way to get headlines and multimedia downloads to your consumers in a mobile format.

Spending the money to develop a website that is specifically calibrated for a mobile web browser is another great way for a startup to break into the mobile marketing craze. Lots of people surf the Internet on their phones, and being able to reach out to these surfers is a great way to make your mobile marketing dollar stretch farther than with other methods. Also, if you’re worried about certain kinds of mobile marketing being too “intrusive,” having a mobile website is a more latent way to take advantage of mobile marketing while still getting in on the trend.

In order to find people who can help you calibrate your business’ mobile website, you can search online for companies that specialize in “mobile web development.” Those who do work in this department are different than traditional web designers, so be sure that you know who you’re working with and what their capabilities are insofar as mobile web design is concerned before making a commitment.

There is no end to the methods you can use for the purpose of marketing your own business online. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, the internet can be a great tool to help you increase your revenue. The internet advertising business is going gangbusters, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Perhaps this is because the return on the investment of your advertising dollars goes further online than just about anywhere else. Not only that, it’s very easy to track your results when you advertise on the internet. And the tracking can be much more specific when compared to offline ads. For example, you can find out exactly where each visitor is from, information about their computer, what time they visited your website, how long they stayed, and the list goes on. It would be virtually impossible to do this with any of the traditional marketing methods.

If you have been thinking about advertising on the internet, then you have probably heard about using social networking as a free marketing option. The good news is that it can, and does work. However, the general rule of thumb is that the less you invest in online advertising, the longer it will take to see results. That doesn’t mean you should skip social sites for marketing, far from it, but be prepared for it to take a while to see an increase in your profits.

Continuing with social networking sites as an example. They are free to use, but you will have to post to them regularly. This takes time. You then need to work on positioning your business as a top resource for whatever it is that you’re selling. You can do this by becoming a noted expert in the field, which also takes time. But, once you start gaining traction, your followers will start recommending you to their friends, and you can experience exponential growth before you know it.

On the end of internet advertising business are the paid options. We’ll use pay per click (commonly referred to as PPC) for an example. This is where you pay for each click somebody makes on your ad on a search engine. However, a lot of the search engine’s visitors won’t even know it’s an ad. Let’s say you’re selling table lamps, you would select keywords (the terms people enter into the search engines for information) that best match your business. You will then pay the search engine you have a PPC arrangement with each time somebody clicks on your paid ad. How much you pay per click will largely depend on how competitive the keyword is.

PPC can be somewhat risky if you don’t know what you’re doing, but most places will allow you to set a daily cap on your pay per click spending. This will help you keep your budget under control as you learn how to do it better, and until you start seeing solid results; at which point you can invest more in your internet advertising business choices.

If you want the benefit of search engine optimization (SEO) but just don’t have the time, or inclination, to learn how to do it or to spend the time doing it yourself, you don’t have to miss out. You can hire search engine optimization experts to do it all for you.

If you’re a small business just starting out you may think that you won’t be able to afford to hire anyone, and you may be right. I don’t know your budget, but I do know that there are many companies online who specialize in this type of work and work with small and mid sized companies. You may just be able to afford it after all.

The truth is that to have a vibrant and effective seo campaign will take a lot of time and effort. You see, the search engines are always “improving” their algorithms and they don’t like to share. They don’t tell anyone just exactly how they figure out which sites will be ranked the highest.

For this reason a lot of seo is intelligent guessing. It is pretty much a full time job to stay abreast of all the changes being made in regards to seo. That’s why you want to hire someone if at all possible.

And don’t think that just because your niece Sally is online all the time and can put up a blog or send out a tweet that she is competent to do it for you, most of the time that won’t be the case.

There are many elements that go into a successful seo strategy and a company will have their own way of doing things, but there are some things that you will want to look for.

For one thing, any company you are looking at should provide you with an initial assessment of your website. They should be able to give you an idea based on where you are already, how much the whole thing will cost.

After that, they should come up with an extensive keyword list that is loaded with highly targeted and highly relevant keywords. If chosen properly, this list can be like money in the bank for you and your online business.

Once the keyword list is in place, the next step is to “clean up” your website. Make sure everything is set up in the optimum way to grab the search engines attention. This includes adding meta tags and header tags for instance.

And the next step would be to manually submit your search engine optimized site to search engines. After that, it will be important to track your results so you can see how effective the changes you’ve made are.

This final step is very important, and often overlooked. If you can’t track your results how will you know whether or not the money you’ve invested in your seo company is money well spent or just a waste?

Hiring your own search engine optimization experts to oversee all your seo needs is a great idea for any online business. You can get the maximum benefit with a minimum of effort from you.

Monetize Your Blog Today, It is Easier Than You Think

If you are looking at transforming your blog traffic into income then follow the five tips here and you will be able to instantly monetize your blog. If you can create a product, or display some ads, you should be able to start making money from all your efforts.

1. Products: Products are a great way to monetize your blog. If you have a loyal community they will be open to purchasing from you. You could easily use a site like CafePress to create just about any physical product you want. This is especially effective if your blog has morphed into it’s own brand.

Besides physical products you can also create your own eProducts. You could create your own eBook and sell it on your site. If it is enticing to your current web traffic you could sell hundreds of these books with little effort and marketing. Anything you can think of can be a product.

2. Lead Capture: This isn’t an instant monetization but it can have far reaching benefits. If you capture the emails of people who are visiting your site you will be building a “list”. You can keep a running dialogue with these people and when you do have an offer to sell, you will have a list of warm leads. What salesperson wouldn’t kill for that? You just need an autoresponder service (like Aweber) and an offer that people will want to give their email to get. Overkill the value here – offer something you feel like you should be charging for.

3. Members Area: If you have a ton of traffic you can also create a premium members area. This would be best for helpful blogs. If you had a blog about WordPress tips, you could keep your premium tips, advanced code, and offer support in a paid members area. If your blog is powered by WordPress (it should be) there are free plugins that will give you this capability.

4. Adsense: Adsense might not make you a rich man, but it can be a nice boost to your income. You can choose to display Google ads on your site and whenever they get clicked you get paid. Google ads will display ads based on your content and some content is worth more than others. One downside is you have to be really careful how you display your ads, because Google has strict requirements. You probably won’t make a killing, but a couple bucks a day (or more) is entirely possible. There are also a ton of other similar Pay Per Click advertising opportunities out there, just do a Google search to learn more.

5. Donation: I saved this to the end because I personally do not like it. If you want though you can easily add a donation box to your blog. These boxes usually have you the blog owner asking for a donation, or for your guests to buy you a beer, or coffee, or etc… Much like everything else, you can add this through a WordPress plugin. To me it seems kind of like electronic pan handling, but that is my own personal bias. If you offer a helpful blog, then asking for a donation may not be that bad.

There are many ways to monetize your blogs, and I just showed you five quick tips. if you put even a couple of these tips into place you will be ahead of most people. You spend your time blogging faithfully, it is time to get something back. Monetize your blog today and get what you deserve.

Many online businesses, in their haste to get up a website as soon as possible in order to start raking in the customers and the revenue, completely forget about the importance of web design when it comes to selling online.

It helps to think of your website as a physical store. Before you invited the customers in, you’d take care to make sure that everything was organized, the place was easy to navigate for as many people as possible, and that the store was clean. If your store is cluttered, hard to navigate, and dirty, many customers will turn around and walk right out upon seeing the place, without giving a second thought to the products inside.

Web design is important in the same way. When you present your site it needs to be presented in a clean, clear-cut fashion that draws the customer in and invites them to explore the website more, rather than sending them running due to an onslaught of blinking graphics and clashing colors.

The best web designs, thankfully, tend to be the more simplistic ones. Make your links obvious and your text a reasonable size with appropriate colors. Note that “appropriate colors” doesn’t necessarily mean that the website has to be in shades of white – in fact, pops of color add interest and make your website memorable – but having a yellow background with pink text is going to shock your customers in a way that you’ll likely find less than desirable.

Also fortunately, while most of us might not be web design gurus, there are a number of people who have dedicated their lives to the art of website design and maintenance. If you are a person who struggles to put italics into your HTML documents, there’s no shame in admitting that you’re not the grandfather of code. This is one place where outsourcing can be a great idea. Yes, a look at many website design sites might make you reel with the prices they quote, but there are ways to keep the costs low when it comes to outsourcing web design.

Consider purchasing a ready-made site and then buying customized graphics on top of that as opposed to getting a site made from scratch. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Also consider talking with students from design schools – yes, you’ll have to pay them, but they often charge much lower rates, and many students will jump at a chance to build their portfolios.

Also remember that outsourcing your web design can be claimed on your taxes for an online business. Don’t be penny wise and pound foolish – a good web design will serve you well and pay for itself in no time when it comes to the business of successful business.

When you have built a great rapport with your outsourcing professional who you found one fine day on a freelance work site, you can think on more permanent lines. After all, it is always mutually beneficial to seal professional relationships.

Some companies who don’t want to go through the hassle of having to find out outsourcing professionals over and over again go right ahead and build contracts and agreements. These documents are shipped to the address of the professional and they have to sign it and ship it back.

The protection that a contract gives to both parties can help in building better professional collaborations. You won’t have to look for outsourcing professionals again; you will have something who you know works in the way you want. Also, the professional won’t have to look for clients because they have a contract with you. It is good for the professional to continue working with the same clients over a long term, because they know what the clients require and they also know that they can produce that to the clients’ satisfaction.

You might not know it, but a lot of relationships that began casually over the Internet have ended up in the outsourcing professionals shifting their base, even sometimes to other countries, and becoming integral parts of hugely successful companies that they once worked for as mere freelancers. The companies prize these once-upon-a-time freelancers as well because they were with them when the companies were teething, which creates in them a factor of faith and trust.

So, don’t hold back on outsourcing your work. You might get one or several faithful and efficient business allies for life.

One of the biggest things that business owners of both online and offline enterprises struggle with is the issue of getting followers for their Twitter feeds and Facebook accounts. It’s easy enough to sign up for these sites and get your profile set up – it’s even easy to get somebody to design a profile for you so that it looks as sharp as can be.

But once it’s set up and once it’s ready to go, even once you have all your content planned out… then what?

This is where many people get stonewalled. They either end up trying to friend too many people or not enough, or can’t seem to get their social media profiles off the ground and get those customers into the business.

Don’t despair. There is a way to work social media platforms in order to ensure that you will get traffic to your website should you have it, or if nothing else be sure that your social media site gets the attention it deserves. The key? Moderation.

One of the biggest mistakes that business owners make when they are starting a social media profile is to friend four hundred people at once. If thousands of people end up getting the same invite, they may assume that you are fishing for friends and delete your profile off the bat without giving it any heed. The better solution is to friend no more than twenty people at one time. Once you’ve cultivated a “friendship” with those twenty people – or however many of the twenty deign to respond to your invitation – you can move on to the next batch.

Another great way to get interest to your profile is to friend other businesses as well. It helps if you can network with fellow businesses or groups that have the same interests and products as you do, as not only will it give you more information, it also makes your profile look more “well-rounded.”

Don’t forget to advertise the fact that you’re on social media sites at your physical store, too. A sign asking customers to follow you on Twitter might be better received than you originally think. It’s also good to start with your local base, because the more followers you have, the easier it gets to recruit other people to friend your profile or follow your feed.

Also, don’t forget to keep your content interesting and fresh. Don’t update every day if you don’t have something to say. While updating Twitter feeds constantly might be the thing among the preteen sect, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best idea for your business. Only update when you have something to say – and if that “something” is an offer or a sale, that’s all the better!

If you run a wordpress powered website you have probably wanted to embed a Youtube video at one time or another. Video can add interactivity and excitement to a blog post. Luckily, WordPress and Youtube make this a very easy process. Centering your Youtube video can be a tricky process though, especially if you don’t know any coding. There is a very simple fix though, that will ensure you can center any youtube video, or any object for that matter.

First you have to get the video into your post. You go to Youtube, click embed (under video), choose your options and copy the code. You then take that code and paste it into the WordPress HTML editor. Remember you have to set to HTML, using the button in top right corner. Then you simply paste in your Youtube embed code. Now you have the video in your post or page.

Once you have that done you can switch back to the visual tab on the WordPress editor. You will see your video (or object) as a large yellow box. Ideally, you could simply click on that box and click the center button on the editor. That doesn’t work. I am not sure exactly why, but it is probably because the center command in WordPress inserts html code that the object doesn’t recognize. Even if you wrap the object yourself in < center > tags it won’t work.

The fix is pretty simple though. You just have to navigate back to the html part of your editor. You won’t see the yellow box now you will see the embed code for the video. Right before the embed code, enter:

div style=”text-algin:center;” (in between html brackets of course)

And then after the end of the embed code:

/div (also in html brackets)

When you switch back to your visual editor you will notice the yellow box is centered! Now that you have learned this code you can center any youtube video or other object in each of your posts. Use it often enough and it won’t be long until you have the code memorized. Try it on your next blog post and let me know how it works.
